Antique Shows The J. Namnoun Oriental Rug Gallery has been invited to the Hartford’s Fall and Spring Antique show for many years. Within these years, we have brought Hartford some of the most unique, collectible, and beautiful antique carpets around. Visitors from all over the state and even out of state have come to view what we have to offer. We hope you will join us for our Spring show coming up in 2006. For any information pertaining to the show, please contact us with any inquiries. Lectures Through the course of the year, we have designed a lecture pertaining to the Oriental Rug Market. We discuss issues such as the history, origins, and what to look for when buying a rug. Our goal here is for people to get a better education in the types of carpets offered from the past to the present. If you want to attend to one of these lectures that we hold in the gallery, please contact us to reserve seating as soon as possible. During our recent lecture, we took a more academic approach and talked about where specific rugs came from and how they changed over the generations. We did not spend much time on the decorative aspect of hand made carpets, what is available on the market today. So, if your questions were more like "what can I put with olive green for my dining room?", rather than "what did a 19th century Bidjar look like?", we are offering a follow up to this event. We will meet again; this time to discuss how one goes about buying a new rug; current pattern, color and design trends. What you may not realize is how vast the world or Oriental Rugs actually is, and they are not all red and blue or from Iran! There will be no charge for this class, and you are invited to bring questions, floor plans and fabrics.
